Asst Prof Bettina Lieske

Dr Bettina graduated from Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany in 2000. Prior to commencing her surgical training in the United Kingdom, she went on to attain a research degree (Doctor Medicine) in 2003 from Friedrich Schiller University.

She completed her Basic Surgical Training as well as her Higher Surgical Training in the United Kingdom. After her final year of training in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Oxford University Hospital, she was awarded FRCS in 2010 and Certificate of Completion of Training in 2011. During her time as a surgical trainee, she developed an interest in Medical Education. She obtained a Diploma in Medical Education (Dundee) in 2008 and was subsequently awarded an Oxford Educational Fellowship, leading to an MA Clinical Education in 2011.

In 2014 Dr Bettina took time out of practice in Singapore and spent 3 months at the National Centre for Pseudomyxoma Peritonei in Basingstoke, UK. She trained in the procedure of Cytoreductive Surgery with Heated Intra-Peritoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC), and has since been accredited to perform this procedure in Singapore. In addition to cytoreductive surgery for peritoneal malignancies, she is also trained and accredited to perform PIPAC, and is part of the faculty for PIPAC training and accreditation courses at NUH.

Dr Bettina is currently a Senior Consultant with the Division of Colorectal Surgery at the National University Hospital, as well as a Senior Consultant with the National Cancer Institute Singapore (NCIS) and Assistant Professor on the Clinician Educator Track with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University Singapore.
