Dr Jolene Wong is a Consultant at the Department of Sarcoma, Peritoneal and Rare Tumors (SPRinT).  She graduated from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Singapore with consecutive Dean’s list awards between 2010 to 2014 and was subsequently selected to enter the Singhealth General Surgery Residency Programme, successfully completing her specialist training in 2019 in Singapore.  She is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and holds a Master of Medicine (Surgery). Dr Wong is also a certified medical graduate of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
 

Dr Wong’s clinical area of expertise include peritoneal surface-based malignancies, sarcomas, melanomas, and gastro-intestinal tumors. She has authored several scientific publications in regional and international journals and has delivered multiple scientific presentations at conferences worldwide. Passionate about bettering the outcomes of oncological patients through research, she has embarked on clinical trials aimed at improving the quality of life in patients with unresectable peritoneal metastases. In 2020, Dr Wong was awarded the Singapore General Hospital Academic Clinical Program me (SGH ACP) seed grant and the National Cancer Centre (NCC) Research Fund (NCCRF) for her work on Pressurized Intra-peritoneal Aerosolized Chemotherapy (PIPAC) in peritoneal metastases. This resulted in the performance of the 1st PIPAC procedure at Sing health in August 2020 which can serve as a steppingstone for the use low morbidity novel strategies in the field of palliative medicine.
 

Recognizing the need to optimize care amongst advanced cancer patients, Dr Wong establish Sing health’s 1st multi-disciplinary palliative intervention workgroup. Through this platform, she hopes to create a vibrant research and collaborative culture amongst surgeons, oncologists and palliative medicine physicians while improving patient reported outcomes. In 2021, Dr Wong was awarded the Nurturing Clinician Scientist Award to further her health service research efforts in the field of palliative surgery.
 

Beyond her clinical and research responsibilities, Dr Wong is a strong believer of volunteerism and philanthropy in medicine and spearheaded the development of the NUS-Neighborhood health screening (NHS) program me, serving has chairperson from 2011-2012.  As an advisory committee member of the Cancer Education and Information Services aimed at providing personalized cancer education and treatment to cancer patients, she hopes that a synergy of good clinical research and a philanthropic spirit will serve as platforms to better the outcomes of oncological patients worldwide.
Dr Wong is also active and passionate about medical education and training and is a clinician faculty member of the Sing health General Surgery Residency Program me and a clinical tutor to students from NUS, Duke and NTU.
